GDC 2018: 9 Monkeys of Shaolin for the ID@Xbox Program
Developer Sobaka Studio and publisher Buka Entertainment have partnered up to announce the development of 9 Monkeys of Shaolin. The title has been selected as one of the 50 games for the ID@Xbox Program, the program enables game developers to create and publish games for Xbox One and Windows 10. They are currently showcasing the title at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.
Players will take on the role of Wei Cheng, a simple fisherman who has set out to avenge the death of his friends and family, murdered during a pirate raid on Wei’s peaceful village. With a basic understanding of ancient martial arts this simple fisherman sets out with his battle staff to challenge the dangers of Medieval China.
Promising to revive the SNES and SEGA generation of brawler games, 9 Monkeys of Shaolin features; 3 unique fighting styles, an overarching narrative, character development system, over 25 ‘hardcore’ levels and cooperative gameplay.
9 Monkeys of Shaolin will be available fall of this year on Steam, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
