Gareth Bale Chosen as UEFA Euro 2016 Cover Star

Gareth Bale Chosen as UEFA Euro 2016 Cover Star

When Wales qualified for the European championships this year, they made history as the first national team from Wales to qualify for the tournament . Whilst their results were a team effort, their success was certainly helped along by the work of Real Madrid player Gareth Bale, considered by many to be the star of the team.

Now, Bale is set to make more history by being the first Welsh player to feature on the cover of a football game since Ryan Giggs’ appearance on the cover of FIFA 2003. The 26 year-old will be featured prominently both of the cover of the game and promotional material, as well as featuring in the game itself, playing for the Welsh national team of which he is a proud part.

The game is an update to Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 (PES 2016) but will be sold as a standalone game for those who don’t already have that title. Anybody who already owns PES 2016 however will be able to get the content as a free download from 24th March.

“Gareth Bale is one of the hottest properties in world football, so we are delighted that he is the face of our UEFA EURO 2016 content for PES 2016,” stated Erik Bladinieres, European Brand Director of Football for Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. “His skill and ability make him the perfect fit for a game that will showcase the capabilities of Europe’s greatest national sides. He will be integral to Wales during the competition, and we are delighted that he will be gracing the packaging and in-game content of our UEFA EURO 2016 content.”

That has to be the first Welshman on a European football game, unless Ryan Giggs made an appearance at some point.
