gamescom 2024: Delta Force
Remember the 90s? Lots of brown shooters set in generic deserts with blokes in khaki killing blokes in grey? Well, they’re back, and this time, it’s colourful! We’ve heard about the new entry in the popular Delta Force series already, but the new trailer shows just how far it’s come, including the dropping of the “Hawk Ops” subtitle, suggesting that we’re in for a full-on reboot using the name “Delta Force”, just like the original 1998 game.
The trailer starts a little bit slowly, with all the standard hallmarks of a tactical shooter trailer: brown environments, first-person narration, a slow version of a popular song, a statue being topped, a crocodile being sent in to kill the enemy…wait, what?!
Things get a lot more unhinged after this point, as we see the huge amount of devastation and destruction you can cause to buildings and soldiers alike. With high-tech weaponry, space-like buildings, helicopter hud views, and more fire than a Rammstein concert, the tempo ramps up to 11 pretty quickly before, just as quickly as it started, it fades to black, and we’re told the official new Delta Force name, as well as its presence at the Steam Next Fest in October 2024. PC early access will be coming before the end of 2024, with the full release set for 2025.
