Gamepump's First Games Delayed, Gives Extras or Refunds
Gamepump's Robert Bowling has taken to the company blog to explain that the has been a delay in getting the first title out to subscribers by 6th January. This delay could be a couple of weeks, or a couple of months, so instead they are offering two bonus games or a refund to existing subscribers.
To hopefully sweeten the deal, he also confirmed that subscribers will have the option of having a DRM-free copy of each game Gamepump releases from GOG, instead of a Steam key.
The first bonus game is going through certification, but should be sent out in the next couple of weeks. It will be, as Stuart Gipp guessed in our comment section, the Wii game LIT. Find out more, or request a refund, here.
We reached out to Gamepump for comment on how LIT could be both the first game and the bonus in place of the first game, and received the following explanation:
LIT was definitely in the running to be the Jan game but I made a late game decision that it didn't meet all the qualifications that I wanted to represent the service as a whole and felt it would be better suited as a nice bonus but not take the place of subscribers '1 of 12' games.
It's a great game and will be brand new to PC which fits with GamePump's vision but isn't retro by definition. I'd like our first games to be the ones that fit all the checkboxes and was hoping to move the lineup around to ensure that.
