Gamelock.com Launches New Method Of Reselling Games
US online retailer gamelock.com has a new and interesting twist on the pre-owned game market and they have launched their service today.
The concept is deceptively simple. you buy a game from them, and at the time of purchase you agree with them that after either 30, 60 or 90 days, they will buy it back off you for a price agreed at the time of sale. Simple, no?
Now comes the caveat.
You can only agree to sell the game back within a 48 hour window of purchase, and you are bound by that decision to sell back to them at the time agreed. You can change the agreed period up to 72 hours before you are due to send them the game, but they reserve the right to change the value quoted should you do so.
So it could be said, that gamelock, at first blush is not a reseller at all but in fact a rental service. After all you are agreeing to return the game to them after a certain period of time. The big difference though, is the fact that you can decide to keep the game should it impress you just by logging in to the website and cancelling the sale.
One thing you cannot do that other pre-owned retailers allow, is sell games to gamelock.com that you have not bought from them in the first place.
As stated on their FAQ, gamelock.com do not accept resales from outside the U.S.A.
