Galactic Civilizations IV: Supernova Revamps Your Cosmic Gameplay
Galactic Civilizations IV: Supernova — Stardock’s latest title in the decades-old series — has officially released its v1.65 Early Access update, expanding upon many of its major features, including updates to AlienGPT, Culture Traits, and more! Here’s everything you need to know about the latest changes.
1.65 includes planetary improvements, such as Research and Farming districts now being available at the start of the game. Lakes, Grasslands, and Floodplain planet tiles are also new! You’ll notice the Planet Screen features new backgrounds, updated terrain visuals, and a neutral-coloured grid. Additionally, new images and updated background images have been added to AlienGPT. That’s not all for visual improvements, though, as there are several UI tweaks and text errors that have been fixed to better your experience.
Gameplay gets a bit more challenging with new unique traits for leaders, including Factory Child, Culinary Dream, Duel Scar, Noble Lineage, Recovery, and Engineer. You’re at risk of a breakaway colony if you don’t pay attention to their loyalty, so be wary and don't neglect them! New Tech Tree additions do give you an advantage, though, offering Xeno Industrialization, Subspace Stream Detection, Weapon Systems, Evasive Tactics, Targeting Computers, and Weapon Jammers to keep your empire thriving against your foes.
If you’re not familiar with Galactic Civilizations, it’s a series of space-based strategy games, in which you command (and defend) your empire, explore the galaxy, and colonise new worlds. As a game in the 4X genre, Supernova blends strategy, empire-building, and immersive gameplay, which is detailed in a recent dev blog!
Galactic Civilizations IV: Supernova is available in Early Access now, and you can check out the full 1.65 changelog on Steam for more details!
