Future Games Show: Worshippers of Cthulhu

Whilst there was a big deal made about Civilization VII in the future games show section of gamescom, there was another, less positive city-builder shown. Worshippers of Cthulhu is an Eldritch cult simulator, and has a much darker side than other games in the building genre. The trailer pulls no punches, opening with a spectacular shot of gigantic tentacles bursting through the ground of what we assume is the game’s setting.

You’ll not only be running the city, assigning workers to build monuments and buildings in the name of the dark lord Cthulhu, but you’ll be assigning some of those citizens as sacrifices. As the trailer tells us, you can show them “the ecstasy of sacrifice” in what look like controllable blood sacrifices.
