Future Games Show: PVKK: Planetenverteidigungskanonenkommandant
One of my favourite things about the German language is its ability to make any number of words into one massive word simply by smooshing them together. Demonstrative of this, is the game that nobody even tried to pronounce at gamescomPVKK: Planetenverteidigungskanonenkommandant. Roughly translated, it means Planet defence cannon commander, and that tells a bit more about what to expect from this tongue-in-cheek world-saving simulator. In an interview, the developer told us all about their upcoming game, which they describe as “Space Invaders, but the cannon you fire is really complicated”.
PVKK: Planetenverteidigungskanonenkommandant sees you in a secret bunker, trying to make sure that the world is saved from disaster. You'll be operating your planetary defence cannon, but also keeping it maintained, learning just how it works. The main thing, of course, is keeping the world safe from disaster. Watching out for aliens and their ships. If the truth be told, we didn’t actually see much of the invaders in the clips shown, but with all those buttons and levers everywhere, they must be up to something devastating. Have a look at developer Bippinbits’ interview about their 2025 release above to see just what we mean.
