Future Game Showcase 2022: Games from Ukraine
The Games from Ukraine section is an oxymoron of both heartwarming and heartbreaking. The war in Ukraine continues several months after its start, and it has also affected countless developers. In an attempt to shed some light on the struggles of the Ukrainians and the developers, Future Game Showcase included a particular segment for them. Here is everything that was showcased in the Games from Ukraine section:
Puzzles for Clef (0:49 in the video)
In Puzzles for Clef, players take control of a bunny (I’m already sold) named Clef that has received an invitation from her sister to participate in a treasure hunt taking place in the Sky Island of her ancestors.
In the game, you will explore the island as you befriend the cute and whimsical locals while solving puzzles to find the grand prize. Look out for melodies that Clef can play that will influence the world around her to advance even further!
Zero Losses (1:44 in the video)
Zero Losses is a driving horror game in which you must drive through a war-torn city. Unlike other games about war, Zero Losses focuses on the ugly truth and uncertainty surrounding modern warfare, along with the oppressive and dark atmosphere that it brings. Vitalii from Marevo Collective calls this the “inevitable reaction” to the events surrounding Ukrainians.
Zero Losses is set to come out sometime in the summer of 2022.
This Rain Will Never End (2:21 in the video)
This Rain Will Never End is a noir detective point-and-click title in which players take control of a cat trying to solve the mystery behind the murder of the ex-mayor while also trying to understand why the downpour is never-ending.
Unfortunately, the video did not showcase a release date for This Rain Will Never End.
Farlanders (2:52 in the video)
Farlanders is a turn-based city-builder in which players will try to colonise Mars. Aside from colony building, players will be focusing on terraforming the land, learning new technologies, trading with other colonies, and exploring Mars' underground caves.
Farlanders does not have an official release date at the time of writing.
Through The Nightmares (3:29 in the video)
Through The Nightmares is a unique platforming adventure in which players will take control of the sandman as he traverses through the nightmares of kids and overcomes their fears to progress and fight the god of dreams, Morpheus.
Through The Nightmares is set to release sometime next year!
