Frontier Games Initiate Atari Lawsuit
The company who own the brand name Atari are the subject of a lawsuit from Frontier, creator of the indie hit Planet Coaster. The company worked on their breakthrough title after having previously developed Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 for Atari, but they believe they should have been paid more than they did.
Frontier were working with Atari from 2003 and continued through the company's chapter 11 proceedings in 2013. The company are much more financially sound now, and Frontier feel that they should also be, believing that an error has been made in royalty payments.
The suit, which has been confirmed by multiple parties, claims that Frontier are still owed over $2m in additional royalties from the delayed game. Whilst Frontier did receive a payment of $1.17m, they believe it should be $3.37m and have asked Atari for an audit of sales, which they have not yet provided to the developer. Allegedly, the two companies have been debating the matter since April 2016, with the lack of a solid resolution leading to this lawsuit.

So Planet Coaster was all along a way to raise money for a lawsuit? Crafty devils.
