FROM SOFTWARE Bought by Kadokawa

The Japanese corporation Kadokawa announced today that it had acquired a majority 80% share in stock of development studio FROM SOFTWARE. The publishers Kadokawa, who also distribute anime and manga in Japan are best known in the West for publishing Killer Is Dead and Lollipop Chainsaw, when discussing their recent acquisition they have outlined their desire to take advantage of FROM's current global fame to expand their influence.

FROM SOFTWARE are best known for their Souls series, including Demons' Souls, Dark Souls and Dark Souls II but are also responsible for other franchises including Armored Core and Tenchu. Kadokawa have stated that following the finalisation of the deal on May 21st FROM will begin working with and alongside Kadokawa's games division in both developing and marketing new IPs.

FROM SOFTWARE chief Naotoshi Zin discussed the company's future following the deal saying that

"With a new system, from this point on, I believe we'll be able to make newer and more in depth games," - From Software boss Naotoshi Zin.
