Frictional Games Releases New SOMA Trailer
The creative geniuses behind Amnesia: The Dark Descent have moved to the very deepest parts of the ocean for their next title, SOMA.
Frictional has remained tight-lipped about this newest project, which is set for release in 2015, and currently little is known other than it will take place in the depths of the ocean, something the studio's had been playing with for a while. Combined with founder Thomas Grip's ominous invitation for players to follow him "down into darkness", SOMA does not bode well for those afraid of the ocean or unexplored, freezing pitch black depths.
Frictional's inspiration came in part from just how little we know about our oceans. "The ocean is an alien world, and we’ve only scratched the surface," writes Grips, "We feel it’s the perfect place to explore in a horror game." The announcement on the PlayStation blog also featured what appears to be concept art of some sort of dark, aquatic city surrounded by monstrous shapes and a manmade structure overgrown with strange plantlife.
SOMA is planned for release on both the PlayStation 4 and PC sometime next year, however no official date has been released yet.
