Fortnite: Battle Royale Lands 1 Million Players In 24 Hours
Released as quick as it was announced, the 100 player Fortnite: Battle Royale game mode has had a successful start with a reported 1 million players in 24 hours.
The announcement was made on Twitter by the official Fortnite account and is a somewhat surprising number.
Fortnite: Battle Royale was met with a lot of mixed feelings following its announcement after PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds developer Bluehole raised the concern that there was something amiss. The statement has lead to an ongoing discussion about whether Epic Games copied Bluehole's game in an unfair way. Regardless of the outcome, the news that 1 million players have jumped off the party bus and entered the fight in Fortnite: Battle Royale is impressive.
Fortnite: Battle Royale is available for free now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The main PvE element of Fortnite is available in a buy-in early access but will be free sometime in 2018 to all.
