Focus Entertainment Shares December Community Update
As 2024 comes to a close, Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment released a December Community Update for their highly successful Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. With retrospective, a look to the future, and a bit more, here are a few of the things they touched on.
First off, the team looks back at the beginning of Space Marine 2 back in December and bring up Update 4.0 and Update 5.0. Termination and Obelist (respectively) were two huge updates bringing in more content and additions to the title for the five million Space Marines that joined the ranks. With the ever-growing community, the team shared a heartfelt thanks to the players who have joined them for their experience and even looked back at some of the fan creations that players shared.
In the span of 3 months, Space Marine 2 reached the remarkable milestone of 5 million players, to our great delight. We want to sincerely thank all 5 million of you for this.
Moving on, the post talks about the currently ongoing Decimation Community Event, where you'll need to complete 10 missions in Operations Mode, and you'll unlock an exclusive Chainsword skin to show off your loyalty. You have until the 20th of January at 10:00 AM GMT to participate and get the Mark XI Hell's Teeth Pattern Chainsword.
Finally, the rest of the post talks a bit about Space Marine 2's future in 2025. First, the team talks about PvP content coming in Patch 7.0, showing off a sneak peek at the upcoming map that'll be arriving, with more emphasis on Closed Quartered Battles. But more importantly, PvP lovers will be able to partake in new custom lobbies, which will bring in modifiers, include more players, maximum limit score, more than one class per team, and more!
PvE content isn't falling behind, either. 2025 will see the arrival of the highly anticipated Horde Mode, though we don't get a lot of information about it. We do get a bit more information about the upcoming Prestige Rank that will be introduced during the game's third season, which will allow players to upgrade their classes even further, and even more so than that, new Operations and Enemies will expand the content of Space Marine 2, alongside a new difficulty level with new rewards for Operations!
Finally, the team shared a bit about the upcoming Champion: Salamander. A new sniper joining PvP and PvE ranks, we got three fun facts about him:
- His cape is very cool (yes, this is a fact that we got. And yes, we agree, it was a very important fact).
- Though you'd expect the Sniper Champion to be part of the Raven Guard, that won't be the case.
- The Champion theme (Salamander) was picked because the team loves them, and though they were between Heavy and Tactical, Heavy was already taken, and they have a "different idea" for Tactical.
Meanwhile, we also got a look at the next things coming in terms of Chapters and Battle Barge. More Chapters from the Warhammer 40,000 universe will join the fray, and the Battle Barge will receive an expansion named the "Datavault", which will give you the opportunity to learn about your foes with a new currency coming in with in-game achievements.
This was the end of the retrospective and look-ahead for Focus and Saber, as Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 enters a new year and, hopefully, sees new successes!
