First Look at Sonic Mania's Competition Mode

It's just a few short days now before Sonic Mania is unleashed on the world, and the platform resurrection is poised to bring some faith back to the Sonic faithful. With a number of poorly received titles over the last few years, Sega are taking us back to the old fashioned 2D, pixel-art style that we all remember from the old days. With it, comes a number of new modes, and the not-quite-so-new Competition Mode; essentially the 2-player mode from Sonic 2.

A new Sonic Mania video has recently been unveiled, showing that aforementioned multiplayer mode. Just like in the '90s, it pits players in a battle against each other to complete the same level, with the screen being split across the middle for simultaneous level racing. The game will be out on the 15th of August.
