Final Fantasy VII Remake Ships 3.5 Million Copies Within Its First Three Days
Final Fantasy VII Remake may have been the most hotly anticipated videogame remake of all time, and that appears to have translated to strong early financial success, with the game already reaching 3.5 million shipped copies within its first three days on the market.
The 3.5 million figure also accounts for the game’s digital sales, and according to a press release they are “exceptional”, with the numbers continuing to increase. It is worth noting that the game has technically been available for players since before its 10th April release date in certain parts of the world, due to COVID-19 prompting early deliveries to ensure that fans received their copies on time. However it’s unclear as to how this has affected early sales overall, if at all.
Along with strong commercial success, Final Fantasy VII Remake has also been met with largely favourable reviews from critics. We awarded the title with a 9/10 score, stating:
"The game is liberated to achieve its technical ambition, innovative in taking the gameplay and story in exciting new directions, but most importantly, reverent to the timeless ideas that sparked so much passion 23 years ago."
Final Fantasy VII Remake is available now for PlayStation 4, with Xbox One and PC versions of the game being available some time in early 2021.
