Fight New Venomous Monsters in Barotrauma's Blood in the Water Update, Out Now
Barotrauma's latest update, Blood in the Water, has officially dived into the game's monster-infested waters. With it comes various system changes, more campaign difficulty settings, rebalanced suit types, new monsters, and more. Let's take a brief look at some of the changes.
System Changes
- There's been a mini-rework for the medical system, improving balance for medical items, adding new afflictions, and new item use cases.
- The team also included an event system overhaul, which allows scripted events to play out visually along with some additional improvements.
New Monsters
- Viperling: a new Spineling variant.
- Cave-dwelling Mantis: a monster that used to exist in early Barotrauma builds.
Both deal poisonous attacks, so be wary!
For the uninitiated, Barotrauma is a 2D 16-player co-op submarine simulator where you'll work with your team to survive and/or become a traitor, sabotaging your crew's goals. With different classes, talent systems, crafting mechanics, and more, there's a lot to explore when it comes to the game's survival horror and RPG elements. Already tried Barotrauma but need a refresher? We've linked last year's 1.0 trailer above.
Barotrauma is available now with a 50% discount on PC via Steam.
