Fear the Wolves Enters the Battle Royale Fray in 2018!
So-called "battle royale" games are the new hotness, like MOBAs and MMORPGs before them, and Vostok Games, made up of industry veterans from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise, recently threw its hat into the rings with Fear the Wolves, a post-apocalyptic horror game set in Vostok's favorite setting: post-fallout Chernobyl.
As in most battle royale type games, players in Fear the Wolves will need to compete against other players (100 of them to be exact) for the top spot at the end of the match. But more than just other gun-toting lunatics, players will need to contend with the environment itself, including deadly anomalies, dynamically-changing weather, lingering radiation, the titular irradiated and mutated wolf packs, and other effects of the nuclear fallout.
Further breaking the mold of the genre, every game is made truly unique by the irregular and unpredictable spread of deadly radiation, which organically closes in on players with different stages of toxicity. Safety is rarely certain, and adept players will need to read the environment to determine when it is no longer wise to remain in an area. Between all this, other players, tight shooting mechanics, and an arsenal of guns and melee weapons at your disposal, no two matches are the same.
Fear the Wolves will release this year with early access this summer. More information is expected to be revealed at E3.
