Fatshark Announces Release Date for Upcoming Grim Protocols Free Update with Narrative Trailer

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide was released two years ago, on the 30th of November 2022, where players had the opportunity to jump into the world with co-op-focused gameplay akin to Warhammer: Vermintide and its sequel. Yet, despite its age, Fatshark continues to support the release with new releases and updates, with the latest, Grim Protocols, releasing a release date and information.

There are a slew of changes and additions coming to the game, giving players a vast array of content to explore and celebrate the game. It'll be a free content update, but despite that, there will be several changes, including a new mission, a new game mode, and an anniversary event to celebrate two years of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.

The new game mode, Havoc, introduces new end-game content for players who have been battle-hardened against Tertium. There isn't a lot of information about Havoc, except for the fact that veterans of the title will be able to embark on it and face new challenges in order to earn cosmetic rewards for their character! It'll be a nice addition for anyone who has replayed the title over and again to master the gameplay.

There's also a new mission joining, as players will return to the Carnival to explore all of its deepest corners in Dark Communion! Go up against hordes of cultists working to complete their dark communion (thus the name), and it'll be up to you to ravage through their ranks and come out victorious. You'll also be able to progress through these two with three new weapon families: the Two-Handed Force, Power Swords, and the Orgryn Heavy Stubber!

The Anniversary Special Event is to celebrate the second anniversary of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, and it'll come with a few rewards for players, including a unique weapon trinket to show off your loyalty. There was no further information on the event, so we don't know for how long or when it will be running, though we can only assume it'll start when the new update drops.

The free content update, Grim Protocols, will be releasing on the 3rd of December for the Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Windows Store. Though, fans of Sony's console will be able to join in on the missions with a pre-order for PlayStation 5 open now!
