Fair Use for Videogame Law Expanded in the US
The United States Librarian of Congress has expanded the laws on what can be considered fair use across multiple forms of media and devices. The new rules include things such as, preserving video games and running multiplayer servers after developers have abandoned them. Jailbreaking devices to run third-party software is now also allowed.
The laws for videogames have been put in place to ensure the preservation of them and this is why jailbreaking is now allowed. Unfortunately games that can't be played at all after a server shut down won't be included within the new laws.
