Facebook's Game Room Launched
With the acquisition of Oculus last year, it was clear that Facebook were looking to expand their gaming output. The announcement earlier this year that they were set to launch a Steam competitor wasn't a massive surprise with that in mind.
That service is now available, in the form of client software Facebook Gameroom. It's not entirely unlike Steam or GOG Galaxy, but unlike those services, the games on offer are all free-to-play titles. There's no big name exclusives here, just the games that people have already grown fond of on Facebook itself like Candy Crush Saga, Agario and Farmville.
The advantage of the client for players of these games is the lack of a newsfeed being a distraction, and offline play. Games can be played over the internet as they are currently, but users can also choose to download their games for offline play.
