Everything You Need to Know About the God of War: Ragnarök PC Port!
On the PlayStation Direct on the 30th of May 2024, PlayStation dropped the official announcement that God of War: Ragnarök is coming to PC, and it's coming soon! Here is everything you need to know about the PC port when it releases!
Unlocked FPS
The God of War: Ragnarök PC version will feature the love of every PC owner's life: unlocked FPS! This means that capable PCs will be able to run it at the prestigious 240 or all the way up to 60. Given it's an action-packed title with more nuanced combat elements that innovated from the original, you'll need all of the extra frames you can get!
Graphic Enhancement Technology
For those who have compatible PCs and graphics cards, you'll be able to take full control of the video-enhancing technologies that we've come to know and love! Sony is pulling out all the stops for the PC port of God of War: Ragnarök, and including video-enhancing software is one of the many things in their repertoire!
According to the official announce trailer, gamers will be able to take advantage of NVIDIA DLSS 3.7, AMD FSR .1, and INTEL XESS 1.3!
Super Ultrawide Support
Lovers of the prestigious (and surprisingly rare) super ultrawide resolutions will be able to enjoy the game in all of its glory, officially supported by the port. Though only about 3% of players use ultrawide or bigger resolutions, it's been incorporated in many of the Sony ports that have been coming. Even the latest Ghost of Tsushima: DIRECTOR'S CUT that released just a few months ago!
This should include both support for the 21:9 and 32:9 resolutions, though we do not know yet if this will feature 42:9 that has become a bit more prevalent in the industry over the last few years.
Includes the Free Valhalla DLC
The Valhalla DLC for God of War: Ragnarök released on December 2023, just a few months ago, and it'll be part of the official release at no additional cost to the game! You should be able to experience the critically acclaimed epilogue, which many praised a lot for its elements and callbacks to previous experiences.
This DLC is best experienced after the main story, as it canonically takes place after the events of God of War: Ragnarök, and it's the last bit of the story we have seen so far. Who knows what the future holds for the God of War franchise?
It's Coming Out Soon
God of War: Ragnarök comes out surprisingly soon — in fact, it's coming this year! The announcement trailer left us with good news, as the official release for the port is on the 19th of September 2024, meaning you won't have to wait long to experience the Nordic apocalypse!
In fact, surprisingly, this is the second title to break the Sony exclusivity window set for three years. Alongside Horizon Forbidden West, both of these PC ports have releasedwithinthe two years, meaning that not even two years have elapsed since the release of content for these. Even more surprisingly, the Valhalla DLC released just six months ago!
This is a momentous occasion for those who are against console exclusivity, and it'll be a great opportunity for many to experience the end of theGod of War: Ragnarök and where the God of War franchise will take us next!
