Everything New to Wuthering Waves in Version 2.0

After wowing the audience with the Preview Special Broadcast, Kuro Games is proud to announce that their free-to-play open-world action RPG has officially released the biggest patch yet.

The unnamed patch received a preview event last year showcasing some of the content that would be arriving to the title, and with the title officially out, we now know everything that we can expect from Version 2.0! Here is everything new to Wuthering Waves with the latest patch.

New Shortcut Feature

The first thing to mention is the new Shortcut feature introduced to the main story. Released just last year in May, new and old players looking to start up the experience to try out the award-winning experience will be able to get through the original content faster. Complete specific quests throughout the early game, and you'll be able to unlock direct access to the latest areas and stories introduced in Version 2.0.

New Continent: Rinascita

The newest continent has arrived to Wuthering Waves, as players will be able to visit Rinascita! This nation of independent city-states has been dubbed the "Land of Echoes" due to the vast amount of Echoes present. Bask in the continent's love for all forms of art, as you set out to learn more about their Sentinel and their devotion that takes the form of "Carnevale"!

Meet numerous characters from the various factions present in Rinascita, as you'll find them at the front-and-centre stage throughout the narrative. From the Order of the Deep to the Fool's Troupe and Fisalia, to name a few of the groups. Join the continent as you partake in the tributes to their Sentinel through performances and unrestrained joy!

The continent, of course, comes with eight new areas for players to explore. The full list of these are:

• Ragunna
• Whisperwind Haven
• Hallowed Rach
• Penitnet's End
• Fagaceae Peninsula
• Thessaleo Fells
• Averardo Vault
• Nimbus Sanctum

Each place has different environments and atmospheres for players to explore, and they all share a little bit of information about Rinascita's history.

New Characters

 

It wouldn't be a major update without some characters joining the experience! Themed around the continent of Rinascita: Carlotta and Roccia.

First, we'll take a look at Carlotta, the second daughter of the Montelli family, the ones who built the Averardo Vault. An innate noble, she'll be the first 5-Star Resonator who wields pistols. She's a Glacio character that the team tried to focus on the core aspects of her nobility whilst designing her and creating her abilities. As such, during combat, she moves with graceful, dance-like movements and utilises her connection to gems to conjure pistols and bullets by channelling her Resonance Ability, and her abilities sharing a close connection to the gems that so prominently appear throughout her kit.

Meanwhile, players will become closely associated with the Fool's Troupe, where the second character Roccia comes from. As an improvisational comedian, she'll bring her Resonance Skill to pull enemies from all directions and create opportunities for her allies in combat. This effect will also carry over to the next Resonator, even if you switch characters mid-way during its duration! She won't arrive alone, however, as her stage partner, Chest Mimic—Pero, will join in on the action, bringing their dynamic synergy to the battlefield to create a performance full of flair and excitement.

New Skins and Outfits

 

Though these are some of the major changes coming to Wuthering Waves, there are plenty of additions coming to the game! First, Kuro Games is debuting skins, as Jinshi and Sanhua will be receiving two outfits and skins for the first time! Jinshi's skin is described as "a peach blossom", while Sanhua's skin is described as "an exorcistic adjuration"!

Bosses

Four new bosses are joining in with Version 2.0, as players will be able to face them during their stay at Rinascita:

• Dragon of Dirge
• Lorelei
• Sentry Construct
• Hecate

However, that's not all the changes coming to bosses. A new mechanic called Nightmare Echoes is joining, where reimagined versions of bosses from the previous updates will arrive, paired together with enhanced abilities! They'll have unique mechanics that'll differentiate them from their original versions.

Echoes

Rinascita is known as the Land of Echoes, and that's because of the sheer amount of echoes joining! Version 2.0 is coming with 40 new echoes, of which 25 of them will be equippable! Alongside these, you'll find the following:

• Cute Plushies
• Knights and Dancers
• Chop Chop
• Chest Mimic

New Open-world Gameplay

Version 2.0 is also introducing new ways for players to engage with the open-world gameplay! Explore Rinascita with four new features, giving you the opportunity to find new ways to venture out into the world:

• Flight Feature
• Transform into Cuddle Wuddle and Leap
• Swim-Up on a Gondola during the Main Quest
• Cruise Share on a Gondola

Aside from these, new mini-games will be joining the world! You can find the Overflowing Palette, Plushie Punch, and Echo Challenge: Clear Cloud.

Optimisation

Finally, players will be able to enjoy a Gender Switch feature that arrived during Version 2.0, giving you the opportunity to change between the two! Alongside this, the press release talks about a UI Simplified Mode and Portable Synthesizer, alongside "many more gameplay optimizations" that aren't mentioned directly.
