Everything Announced at Disney Dreamlight Valley Showcase 2024
It's now officially been two years since Disney Dreamlight Valley hit Steam (though it's only been one year since its full version release). Now with the first expansion pass in the background — A Rift in Time — a new one has arrived to take its place.
In the latest Gameloft showcase, we got a look at a lot of things related to the title. Though we did get a look at the new expansion pass, there were also some free announcements and roadmaps for what's coming next! Here's everything you need to know about the showcase.
Sew Delightful Free Update
4th of December 2024
Jack's second half will finally be joining the Valley as Sally arrives toDisney Dreamlight Valley with the free update, Sew Delightful! You'll be able to get items inspired by her ensemble, which is perfect for those wishing to add more Halloween to their cosy title.
You'll work together with the Pumpkin King to find Sally, who has lost her way outside of the Valley.Once there, you'll set up a macabre date night for her and everyone's favourite skeletal companion whilst you help her understand her latest premonition, all the while attaining quilt-inspired items!
However, Sally and Halloween aren't the only things making an appearance in this update. Considering this update arrives on the Holiday season, you'll be able to enjoy the ethereal sides of Christmas with magical fairy-tale-themed Winter items that'll bring a touch of magic to your Frosted Heights. This also will feature a wand that'll let you rain down snow for your Dreamsnaps!
Speaking of Dreamsnaps (and indirectly, about decoration), players who have filled their Valley (and Isle for owners of the Expansion Pass) received good news in this showcase. New to the update will be Floating Islands, a feature where you'll be able to purchase a floating piece of land themed around the various biomes in the Valley meant for you to decorate to your heart's content.
Many players have been struggling with decoration and their Valleys being too full, and this is the way that Gameloft wishes to ensure that you can keep unleashing your creative side while still being able to play the game in weaker systems (COUGH Nintendo Switch COUGH). This additional space will be where you can unleash your creative side, and you'll be able to use these sections to let your imagination run wild during the Dreamsnaps, without having to worry about pre-fabbed terrain like mountains, hills, or ponds.
Floating Islands won't be entirely completed by the time Sew Delightful releases, as instead, there will be four islands ready by the time the update rolls out: Plaza Island, Forest Island, Sand Island, and Frosted Island, themed around the Plaza, Dazzle Beach, Forest of Valor, and the Frosted Heights. Each island will be comparable in size to their Valley counterparts, meaning you'll get double the amount of decoration space by the time the update rolls out, though we weren't given exact specifics — the Showcase features a lot of decoration with large items, and excluding the mandatory terrain locations, they seem pretty massive.
You can take your Villagers (and their houses) to the Islands, which might make for a much easier time to gather the right personalities for your group photo submission to the Dreamsnaps.
There is one final update regarding the decoration around the Valley, however. Updating from a four-cardinal-direction placement system, every item in the Valley — houses, furniture, dropped items, anything you could think of — will be able to be rotated with 16 points of rotation.
Free Content Roadmap
From Early 2025 to Summer 2025
The Showcase also teased what's coming in the Roadmap, where we got to see three stages: Early 2025, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025. It's pretty evident what's making an appearance thorughout these stages, though how much content will be included is still shrouded in mystery (we didn't anticipate the Sew Delightful update to be as large as it will be).
In Early 2025, nearly all of the Aladdin cast will be making their way to the Valley. We get a look at Aladdin's fez and Jasmine's hairband with a sapphire in the middle. Though there's no sign of Genie or Abu, this would complete most of the main cast, given Jafar's prominent appearance throughout Eternity Isle.
In Spring 2025, we'll be able to go to the "land of wonder" (Alice in Wonderland), with likely a brand-new realm that'll introduce the Cheshire Cat! Everyone's favourite mysterious feline takes front and centre in the picture, hiding away in the shadows of a tree.
And finally, the last bit of content we get a sneak-peek look at is none other than Summer 2025, which will finally let players venture into Skull Rock. Gameloft has been teasing this location ever since the beginning of the game, and it seems we'll finally be able to enter.Judging by the history of Skull Rock Island and the red feather sunken under the sand, it's likely that we'll be able to find Peter Pan residing inside (rather than who we expected, Captain Hook).
Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Storybook Vale Expansion Pass
20th of November 2024
Warning: spoilers for A Rift in Time.
Finally, the closest to actually releasing was the last thing that Gameloft touched on! Teased at the end of A Rift in Time after completing the third and final act, Maleficent and Hades are going to be the next villains terrorising the Valley. In The Storybook Vale, players will get the opportunity to head into the treasure trove — the core of their hearts where their most priced memories reside.
However, this land, which was stolen away by Maleficent and Hades working in unison, has been broken apart as the two villainous personalities couldn't hold peace for long. Now, you'll need to restore the Lorekeeper and deal with the Ink that is overtaking the Vale as you seek to bring peace to this pivotal location.
Unlike A Rift in Time, The Storybook Vale will be spread throughout two acts (rather than the lengthy three) following player feedback on the first Expansion Pass that Disney Dreamlight Valley got. The first will release on the 20th of November, while the second will be all the way in Summer 2025.
In The Storybook Vale, the new Royal Tool introduced will be the Royal Net, where players will have the opportunity to capture critters of varying rarities across the world. With these, you'll head back to the Lorekeeper to fill in the pages by completing puzzles (actual Jigsaw puzzles) telling the tales of the characters included within the expansion.
The first half of the act will bring with it Merida from Brave, Flynn Rider (Eugene to his close friends) from Tangled, and Hades from Hercules. Those who already own and have invited Rapunzel to the Valley will get a unique interaction between her and Flynn.
The second act will introduce the highly anticipated Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty and a mystery second Villager (which hints throughout the Showcase point to it being Aurora).
Players will also get three new biomes to play in: the Bind, Everafter, and Mythopia. These are mostly themed around the characters that you'll encounter in The Storybook Vale, with Mythopia taking front and centre with Mount Olympus and Hades' involvement in stealing the location.
Finally, each of the three biomes will have a unique pet for you to tame with different variants in colour. You can find Owls in the Bind, mini dragons in Everafter (OMG THEY'RE SO CUTE), and mini winged horses in Mythopia that draw inspiration from Disney's Fantasia (though you can't convince us that isn't a child of Hercules' Pegasus.
The price wasn't announced in the showcase, but the blog shared openly what editions will be available. There are three game editions and three expansion pass editions:
