EVE Valkyrie Developer CCP Halts VR Development
Develop CCP who are the brains behind titles such as EVE Online and EVE Valkyrie have made the announcement they are halting development on virtual reality titles.
This news unfortunately means that around 100 members of staff will be affected by a studio closure with another one up for sale as well. The companies Atlanta office which worked on Sparc is to close and the Newcastle office, which worked on EVE Valkyrie is now up for sale.
CCP have been invested heavily in virtual reality from the early days with EVE Valkyrie being one of the main titles for VR during it's early stages. Most recently though EVE Valkyrie Warzone was released which dropped the need for a VR headset allowing the game to be played like another other title. With the news of the studio closures and step away from VR developer the future of EVE Valkyrie is unclear. No clear reason for the sudden drop of VR development has been announced at this time.
We wish the best of luck to those affected by this news in finding new work in this difficult time.
