Epic Games Re-Reveals Fortnite for the PC, Announces Open Alpha Test
A little less than two years after first announcing it, Gears of War developer Epic Games has brought their PC-exclusive co-op game Fortnite back into the spotlight, and they're inviting players to try out it's alpha test.
The game revolves around players teaming up to reclaim their deserted homeland, which has been left empty following an event called "The Storm". Players can work together to build and defend their own forts against the hordes of monsters brought out by The Storm. Much of the game is built around unscripted events, where players will explore and scavenge their environment for resources in preparation for the waves of enemies they'll face.
According to Epic Games, there will be several campaigns of "varying length" in Fortnite, as well as an undisclosed PvP component. The developer also recently revealed that the game will be free-to-play as part of an attempt to transition the studio to a more Riot Games (League of Legends) or Valve (Dota 2) model that revolves around micro-transactions instead of subscription fees.
There is still no release date for Fortnite, but players eager to get in on the action can sign up for the game's alpha test on the Fortnite website.
