Endless Legend: Shadows Coming Soon

Created by Amplitude Studios, Endless Legends is getting a new expansion this Summer. Named Endless Legends: Shadows, the expansion adds a new faction to the game along with an espionage system. 

The new espionage system adds a whole new element to the game. Units are no longer fully visible, making sieges and attacks more riskier without proper planning or knowledge of possible units in the area. There's also the added risk of other empires setting spies to halt another empire's progression or taking out key members. This makes counter espionage and detection skills valuable, so the players will need to decide between risking espionage or putting a halt on their army production to keep their empire possibly safe. 

The new faction is called the Forgotten. They specialize in using the new espionage system to create invisible units along with being able to infiltrate other empires. While in another empire, the faction can either steal, capture, sabotage, or assassinate units and buildings in order to slow down them down. Their heroes are also given special accessories in order to give them espionage abilities. 

 Endless Legend is a great 4X strategy game with near infinite possibles in terms of how to play the game along with a turn based combat system not found in most 4X games. While the mechanics involved in playing the game has been called overly-complex, the depth of gameplay because of those mechanics makes up for the learning curve.  Endless Legend: Shadows is an exciting expansion with promises of a whole new game mechanic, but hopefully the new mechanics are relatively simple to understand as to attract more players to a rather under-appreciated game.
