Elite Dangerous Horizons Expansion Announced

Elite Dangerous launched 16th December 2014, and one year on it will be receiving its first expansion pack.

Titled Horizons, it will be quite the opposite of what their CQC trailer offers, with landing on planets and driving a Surface Roving Vehicle (SRV)!

It will launch with a bunch of barren, lifeless 1:1 scale planets to explore, with more types to follow in the new year. But just because they are barren doesn't mean they are devoid of anything man-made! Frontier promise that signals and wreckage will be found, presumably procedurally generated like the Signal Sources in space.

And just because it's not CQC doesn't mean dogfights won't be a part of it!

Most interestingly is the promise of completely seamless play.

Elite Dangerous: Horizons is being released this holiday season, priced at £39.99 and comes bundled with the main game. However, if you are already a Commander they aren't deaf to your scoffs, but you do have to preorder here.

Existing Elite Dangerous players receive a £10 loyalty discount off the price of Elite Dangerous: Horizons, retaining their progress and unlocking the exclusive ‘Cobra Mk IV’ in-game spacecraft.

But there is no need to get the expansion, as Frontier promise that the main title will continue to be updated regularly.

Will you soon be saying 'Drive safe, Commander'?
