E3 2015 - Fallout 4 - New Features Revealed

It’s the moment that everyone has been waiting for - Fallout 4 has had its full reveal during Bethesda’s E3 Showcase, and it’s a doozy!

There is so much to talk about with Fallout 4, so I’ll try to keep it relatively short, with a more in-depth look coming in our keynote write-up tomorrow. To kick things off, Bethesda Softworks have fleshed out the character creation a lot more, letting you sculpt your character entirely how you wish to. This character can be either a man or a woman, and you can craft both of them before making your final decision. Depending on how you’ve sculpted them, a child will be generated from their likeness. Once you leave the character creation, you are allowed to explore the pre-apocalypse household you live in and, shortly after this, you’re prompted to add in your character stats etc. But oh no, what’s that? A nuclear bomb has dropped. Quick, to the shelter!

We then jump to your emerging from Vault 111 200 years after the bomb has dropped, a brand new Pip-Boy attached to your arm. The Pip-Boy has had some overhaul but, for all intents and purposes, works the same as before. It is your hub and even has some playable games attached to it now! If that wasn’t enough, the Collector’s Edition of the game will come with a fulyl-functional Pip-Boy which you can put your phone in and runs an app that operates as a second-screen experience, interacting with the game! This app will be available to everyone upon release as well. After this, it isn’t long before you find a Dog companion who is commandable so you can have him attack enemies or retrieve items for you.

Now, if that wasn’t enough to whet your whistle, let’s talk crafting. You can now modify your weapons and power armour to the nth degree, completely customising them to work to your playstyle. It’s safe to say that you can take an incredibly simple weapon such as a pistol and transform it into a laser-sniper rifle should you so choose.

On top of this, you can now build up Settlements using a fully-integrated building system. You have the power to remove existing buildings, harvest them for resources and build them from the ground up, literally. Once created, you can create complex electrical networks to decorate and defend your Settlement, and even create caravans between your Settlements.

So that’s fully customisable players, an overhauled Pip-Boy, craftable weapons, and the ability to build your own towns. What more do you want?! Oh yeah, a release date: 10th November, 2015! Hold on to your butts, Fallout 4 is on it’s way!

This is sounding even more awesome, they've added things in that even I didn't know I wanted until I heard them. :)

Not ashamed of it... I'm going to be a slumlord.

Anyone living in my settlements will wish they had just crawled into the smoking ruin that is the Megaton Crater and drunk the Koolaid. :D
