E3 2014: Assassin's Creed Unity Co-op Demo With Commentary
Ubisoft has given players a five and a half minute look at the co-op mode for Assassin's Creed Unity, its newest game in the historical franchise.
Set in the French Revolution, this newest trailer takes fans through a co-op mission to assassinate the Marquis De Bullion. Beginning on the side of a chimney, we watch an assassin move through an impressively open-world Paris--players can actually move through buildings, but unlike Assassin's Creed III, they can actually interact in these indoor locations. We watch as our assassin jumps through a window to eliminate a pair of guards assaulting a couple before exiting through another window.
Unity's co-op mode also allows players to make use of NPCs in new ways. By eliminating the guards of De Bullion's palace, the assassin encourages a restless mob to storm the building, allowing them to sneak in undetected. Once inside, the co-op mechanics really begin to shine as our assassin meets up with his allies. Each mission has multiple ways to be completed, and in this case one of the other assassins uses his lockpicking to open up an unguarded route to the Marquis' dinner party.
As the "poor sports" storming the palace break through the windows, the assassins use the chaos they cause as cover to corner their target, tossing him to the streets below for a little mob justice.
Assassin's Creed Unity is already up for pre-order, and will hit shelves October 28 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
