Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins - A 'Found Phone' Game That Mixes Fiction With Reality
Alongside Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality, BBC Studios recently announced another entry into the sci-fi series' gaming pantheon. This time, however, it's releasing primarily on iOS and Android (with a Switch version available too). Check out the teaser trailer for Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins above, set for release in spring 2021.
Developed by Kaigan Games, the studio behind innovative (and excellent) titles like Simulacra and Sarah is Missing, this upcoming title looks to iterate on those games' unique style of storytelling. Taking place primarily on a fake smartphone interface (which is why smartphones are the primary platform for the game), players will interact with in-game characters in much the same way they'd interact with their own friends, family and colleagues. Except, rather than chatting about life, players will instead solve a mystery surrounding one of The Doctor's most fearsome foes: The Weeping Angels.
Expect horror, suspense and a fair number of ringtone jump scares when Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins releases for iOS, Android and Switch in spring 2021.
