Diablo IV Is Not an Unending Game
In Diablo III players had the ability to level up and grind continuously, this was done by the infinite number of paragon levels a player could obtain, and by manually increasing the difficulty (as enemies stop scaling at level 70). However, in a recent interview, Joe Piepiora (associate game director of Diablo IV) stated that Diablo IV’s enemies will not scale with the player forever (past level 100), and that once reaching level 100 players will encounter a “pinnacle boss” which is intended to act as the final challenge of the game.
You will still be able to engage in Nightmare difficulties and the game will still be a challenge past 100. But at this time we don’t quite know when players will hit the maximum gear level. It is also implied that the “pinnacle boss” will be a challenge no matter what level or gear you have obtained. All this is to say that once players kill said pinnacle boss the game is effectively over and you are continuing to grind for no real reason — other than the ladders that is.
If you missed Blizzard's open-beta for Diablo IV last month, fear not! Another beta period has been announced, taking place the 12th-14th of May, players will get a chance to enter the realm of Sanctuary and battle the demons throughout Act 1. The purpose of this beta is to “slam” the servers, so as to test Blizzard's server stability. Recently, several patch notes were released for changes to Diablo IV after player feedback in the last beta — so don’t expect everything to work exactly the same.
Diablo IV releases the 6th of June 2023 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
