Devolverland Expo - Replacing E3 the 'Devolver' Way
E3's absence—alongside the absence of every other live gaming event—from this year's gaming calendar has forced developers, publishers and console manufacturers to get creative with their public communication strategies. For the most part, this has led to a series of pre-recorded announcement presentations and more webcam glimpses of developers' homes than we'd have any right to expect. Not for Devolver, though: the quirky and ever unpredictable publisher has tried out something altogether wilder to announce its upcoming slate of releases. Check out Devolverland Expo.
Seen in the trailer above, Devolverland Expo is a free first-person "marketing simulator" set in an abandoned convention centre. Players must break into the convention centre, evade the advanced security and get their hands on the trailers, demos and secrets lying dormant inside.
Flying Wild Hog (Shadow Warrior) deserve serious praise for putting this together in such a short time frame. In a time where every virtual gaming event feels like a compromise, Devolverland Expo is a creative way to work within the current limitations.
Check out Devolverland Expo's Steam page, where you can experience trailers for games like Shadow Warrior 3, Serious Sam 4, Olija, Carrion and more for yourself.
Devolverland Expo is out now for free on Steam.
