Devil May Cry 3 Switch Port is Receiving a Major Gameplay Alteration
Devil May Cry producer Matt Walker uploaded a video to the official Devil May Cry Twitter account, detailing a new major gameplay change to the upcoming Switch port of fan-favourite instalment Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition.
For the first time in an official Devil May Cry 3 release, players will be able to switch (no pun intended) between Dante’s different styles on the fly. Previously, players would have to choose between a single style either in-between missions or at Divinity Statues scattered throughout the games. Now players can bounce between the different styles by simply tapping on one of the directional buttons on the left Joy-Con controller.
For those unfamiliar with Devil May Cry 3, Dante’s different styles change up the properties of one of the designated face-buttons on the controller. For example, the Gunslinger style allows Dante to shoot one of his numerous projectile weapons in a variety of different directions, while the Trickster style allows him to quickly dash towards an enemy before swiftly retreating to avoid damage.
Having all of the different styles available at once will completely change the dynamic of the game, letting players delve deeper into the depths of Dante’s movepool like in subsequent mainline entries.
More information about the Switch port Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition will be released on both the 30th January and 13th February, with the game releasing via the eShop on 20th February. Those who own both Devil May Cry and Devil May Cry 2 on Switch will be able to purchase the game at a discounted price.
