Destiny Saves to Transfer Between Generations

Destiny Saves to Transfer Between Generations

At a recent press even, investment lead Tyson Green revealed that players who create a character on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the upcoming Destiny would be able to use their save characters when they move to an Xbox One or PlayStation 4.

"We're interested in making sure that last gen character can move to next gen. A lot of people are going to buy Destiny on PS3 or Xbox 360 and then get a PS4 for Christmas. Don't tell me I wasted those last 100 hours there. So we're really interested in supporting that. Our longer-term platform plans, I couldn't speak to right now. But we don't want to lock people in."

Despite this revelation, Green could not expand on how the data transfer would work. He also said that Bungie had not reached a decision on whether or not console owners who moved across brands, for example, from an Xbox 360 to a PlayStation 4.

"We don't have any plans to announce there right now. Traditionally that's been restricted by the platform [holders] themselves. We'll just have to wait and see where they go with that."

Destiny is due for a September 9th release later this year on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with a beta testing period beginning this summer.
