Destiny Expansion and Sequel Revealed in Activision Blizzard Financial Statement
Blizzard Activision have let slip the existence of an expansion and a full-blown sequel to their MMO Shooter Destiny. The Bungie developed game, which was released in 2014, has seen a new lease of life with the release of The Taken King expansion in 2015, and we now know that 2016 will see a new expansion.
The reveal came in the company's end of year financial report. Amongst all the usual reports of facts, figures and accounting terminology, was a statement announcing that the company has big plans for the future of the game.
"Activision Publishing, along with its partners at Bungie, expects to bring a large new expansion to Destiny in 2016 and to release a full game sequel in 2017."
There's no details of what the expansion or sequel will entail yet, but we'll bring you more news as we have it.
Fans of the Skylanders franchise can also take some happiness from the report as additions to that are also revealed. As well as a new game in 2016, a cartoon series entitled Skylanders Acadamy, based on the collectable toys-to-life game is also coming.
