Defunct Release Dated

There aren't many games that mix both the racing and the adventure genre. In fact, unless you count the minigames from Final Fantasy VII, it may just be Full Throttle with a monopoly on that genre. Well that's about to change with the impending release of Defunct.

Created by the team at Freshly Squeezed, the game has been in development for some time now and delayed a couple of times. Along the way it managed to win Game of the Year at the Swedish Game of the Year awards in 2014: not a bad feat for a game that's not yet been released. 

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, Defunct is an adventure game with a focus on flow, speed and an engaging world. You are a broken robot that accidentally falls out of a giant cargo ship onto a post-human earth, now inhabited by robots. You have to get back to your ship before it’s too late! It'll be available for PC and Mac via Steam on the 29th January.

The gravitize engine is used to create a separate gravity around yourself, this is the main source of your speed. Use this in downhills to accelerate. But be careful, using it uphill will slow you down. In addition to this the world is full of different speed boosts such as fuel canisters which you can pick up and use to go faster. These tools enables you to drive through the world, meet strange robots, swing on zip-lines, fly through junkyards and boost your way back to your ship.
