Defect Coming to Steam Soon
Persian rugs often have an intentional defect in them. A flower petal that's not quite the right colour or a pattern that is just slightly off-centre for example. This is because many people in the area feel that the only perfect being is Allah, so to make the perfect rug would upset the big fella. A similar principle applies to Defect, except instead of offending a deity, you're looking to create a weakness to exploit.
Why would you want to create a faulty ship on purpose? Well, in Defect, you fight the ships that you create, meaning that if you want to win the fight, it's a good idea to give yourself a weak point to hit for massive damage. The game is set to launch on Windows, Mac and Linux on the 26th of July .
"Defect is all about customizing your dream spacecraft, piloting it into battle then taking it out via the hidden Achilles heel," said Paul Baker, project manager, Three Phase Interactive. "By providing a near limitless set of design tools, players will be able to build ships we've never emulated. We can't wait to see their creativity."

The premise is hilarious. Build a ship to defeat your previous ship with its mutinous crew, but make sure it's not too unbeatable so that your next ship can defeat it once your crew mutinies. Rinse and repeat.
