Dead Island 2 Removed From Steam but Still in Development
Dead Island 2 has been removed from Steam, marking another twist in the development hell saga of the game. Back in July last year, Deep Silver had removed Jaegex as their developer, replacing them with Sumo Digital, but the game page remained on Steam. As of now, the game is nowhere to be found and has been removed from players' wishlists.
Deep Silver gave us a short and sweet statement to quash any rumours of the games cancellation however. We have been advised that "Dead Island 2 is in development with Sumo Digital. Once we have new details to share, we will do so." So we at least know the game is still on.
It's not clear if the removal of the page was intentional or an accident. It could be that with E3 coming up, they're planning a big relaunch of the title with their new developers. Alternatively, they might just be planning to quietly can it, who knows? What we can say though is that, for now at least, the game is doing better than Dead Island Epidemic did.
