Dead by Daylight Hits New Concurrent Player Count Nearly 10 Years After Launch
Behaviour Interactive Inc.'s genre-defining Dead by Daylight launched just a little over nine years ago, and it's going strong into its fourth. What's known as the king of asymmetric titles for its numerous collaborations, DLC, and essentially leading the charge for the genre isn't done just yet, and it was proven once more recently.
To say Dead by Daylight is bustling would be an understatement — on any given day of the week, it is amassing upwards of 50,000 concurrent players on Steam alone, not accounting for numbers in other untrackable platforms. With literal millions of players, what's most impressive about this title is that it keeps hitting new all-time peaks, even surpassing its previous record set a few years prior.
While the June 2021 all-time high of 105,093 came close to being broken several times thanks to free weekends, it wasn't until the latest DLC launch that it actually managed to see the number beaten. Though it's pretty close to its previous number, it's still a statement of the success and longevity of the game.
So, what caused the big boom that isDead by Daylight's newest record? The behemoth of an IP that is Five Nights at Freddy's, as the newest DLC brings the animatronic menace, the iconic Freddy Fasbear's Pizza location, more to the title.
Dead by Daylight: Five Nights at Freddy's is the 35th DLC to the franchise, and it stands as what brought 106,029 players at once to join in on the fun.
