Daydream: Forgotten Sorrow Announces PC Release Date and Teases Console Edition
Publisher Ravenage Games and developer Frozen Line have unveiled a brand-new release date trailer for the upcoming atmospheric puzzler, Daydream: Forgotten Sorrow. Set for launch on the 24th of May 2023, this cute 3D platformer has you play as a young boy named Griffin who is trapped in an ominous world with his teddy bear, Birly.
Together, the duo will explore a dark fantasy world full of monsters and visions of the past, as well as beautiful floating castles and fairytale forests. Just as the visuals balance charming and spooky aesthetics, the narrative seems to do the same, as Daydream: Forgotten Sorrow promises a touching story about friendship as well as loss. In terms of gameplay, you’ll find yourself solving complex and tricky puzzles along the way. While you control Griffin directly, you’ll often enlist Birly’s help by tossing him to hard-to-reach locations, commanding him to crawl through tiny spaces, and teaming up to move heavy objects.
Daydream: Forgotten Sorrow seems like it would fit right in with titles like LIMBO, Little Nightmares, or DARQ, as each one explores a strange, gloomy world and features a mysterious unravelling narrative. But Daydream is not exactly a Limbo-like title, according to the developers. The team clarified in a dev diary posted on Steam that “such games as Limbo and Little Nightmares inspired us during the creation of the gameplay process and some locations. However, the story we want to tell is different, because it has the beginning and the end.”
Daydream: Forgotten Sorrow will be available on PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store on the 24th of May 2023. Ravenage Games have also announced that an upcoming console edition is currently in development for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. A console release date has not yet been announced.
