Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed to September 2020
It's been a sad week indeed for impending game releases. Not only has Marvel's Avengers and the Final Fantasy VII Remake been delayed, but now, in a tweet posted on 16th January, CD Projekt Red announced that the highly-anticipated open world RPG Cyberpunk 2077 will also fail to meet its expected release date. Instead of 16th April, the game will release 17th September.
The statement released on the studio's official Twitter account (found below) claims that the extra five months will allow for the "playtesting, fixing and polishing" to ensure the game is "perfect". While five months is a long time for extra polishing, the lofty expectations placed on CD Projekt Red after the success of The Witcher 3 means that Cyberpunk 2077 really does need to be near-perfect to avoid major disappointment.
On the bright side, the statement also promises updates on the game's progress. So, at the very least, fans shouldn't be left completely in the dark.
