CVG Being Closed by Future Publishing
MCV have revealed that the entire staff of CVG are on consultation and face redundancy, ahead of changes Future Publishing wish to make. This will include closing the website, which has been running since 1999, possibly before the end of the year.
Computer & Video Games was the first published videogaming magazine, back in 1981. In 1982 is created the Golden Joystick Awards. The closure of CVG will put an end to an impressive 33 years of the brand, and quite possibly the Golden Joystick Awards.
Future Publishing purchased CVG in 2004, when the magazine stopped being published. The website has been running for the past ten years, though back in June this year it was earmarked for closure. Several staff were made redundant but the site was given a six month stay of execution.
This news comes just weeks after the Official Nintendo Magazine suffered a similar fate.

I used to buy the magazine but I've not heard anything about it for years. I had no idea it was still going as a website! I could have been reading that!

Future are axing a lot of videogaming magazines recently. I used to get Nintendo Gamer ( which started life in the 90s as Super Play ) but that was shut down about a year ago. Most of the staff were transferred over to the Official Nintendo Magazine, but that too was axed a few months ago. They switched my subscription to Game Informer or something, which is a general purpose mag, but I doubt that'll be around much longer either. It's a real shame since I find the print media offered a much different tone and perspective to the online offerings.

Ugh. Why buy all the magzines when you are going to close them all.

Technically October 14th wasn't "months ago" when you posted this... But if you're after a magazine rather than a site, there is @[395746913787667:GameOn Magazine]...

One company to rule them all, One site to find them, One magazine to bring them all and in the darkness shut them.

Nah, since @[103113616396005:Kieron Gillen] left to write comics, it's not been worth it. His comics, however, are spectacular.
