Cuisine Royal is Real and Its Coming

It started as a joke, but who's laughing now? Gaijin Entertainment and Darkflow Software for starters, and possibly all the rest of us as soon as Cuisine Royal hits digital shelves.

Cuisine Royale aims to be the newest entry into the "battle royale" craze. Starting life as an April Fool's joke and limited-time release, this all-out kitchen warfare MMO got so much traction that the developers of the upcoming shooter Enlisted have decided to make it into a full-on, standalone title. And the best news is, it's available now on Steam, free until 2nd July.

Dinnerware and kitchen utensils, which have long been overlooked in terms of their combat capabilities in other games, will finally be able to show off their true potential in Cuisine Royale. Players can use a colander as head protection, equip a wok pot as a formidable breastplate, or strap on a massive waffle maker to be protected even against the largest calibers of weapons. Some of the items found in game can be used both in defense and offense, like the versatile pancake pan that can shield against incoming bullets as good as it can brain enemy players. Other items that can be found on the battlefield are even more exotic: Strapping on a medical dropper will provide the player with accelerated health regeneration, a set of glasses will increase weapon accuracy and chewing on a Cuban cigar will turn the player into a real Tough Guy able to withstand even more physical punishment!

It's not all spatulas and cheese graters, however. A wide array of weapons are available for use from melee weapons like knifes and axes, as well as an arsenal of firearms. But honestly, who wants to use that when you can charge into battle armed with only a spork and your dreams of victory?

There will be loot boxes, but the developers of this frankly alarming experience have revealed that they will be 100% free, scattered throughout the battlefield in fridges (of course) that contain foodstuffs for extra health as well as weapons and other equipment. More features, like an upcoming squad mode and character customization options, are also being promised down the line.

Check out Cuisine Royale on Steam and get ready to get cookin'.
