Classic Space Opera Starflight set to Return

32 years on, the name Starflight still brings a smile to the face of many PC gamers. The space-opera title was one of the first of its kind, and holds the distinction of being the first PC game to be awarded platinum sales status. Cited as an inspiration for many other games including Star Control and Mass Effect, it's a game that's seen fans begging for a sequel ever since the second in the series back in 1991.

The wait is nearly over however, with a new title being crowdfunded by the game's original creator Greg Johnson. The project is estimated to cost £800 000, so Johnson has turned to crowd finding and investment site Fig. This means that as well as simple pledges to back the game, fans can choose to invest in the title, with a share of profits being awarded should the game recoup its creation cost. Check out the trailer above, and the game's Fig campaign for more info.
