Cities: Skylines Smashes Through the 1 Million Sales Barrier

Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order have announced that their new city simulation darling, Cities Skylines has hit the 1 million copies sales barrier since the release on 10th March, which was just over a month ago. It hit 250,000 copies after only 24 hours on sale.

The game has garnered a very positive reception among the gamers since its release, hailing it as the new standard in city simulation game after the SimCity series, which popularized the genre.

With mod support built in right from the start, the game has been very popular among the modders as well, who have created close to 33,000 mods for the game to date.

Commenting on the continued success of the game, CEO of Paradox Interactive Fredrik Wester said,

“We continue to be amazed at just how players have embraced Cities: Skylines. The game is still selling at a steady pace, which is remarkable for a game that has been on sale for well over a month. Once again, we want to thank everyone that has supported and continues to support this game.”

Cities: Skylines is out on the PC, Mac and Linux systems and is available on their site and major online retailers.
