Publisher Owlcat Games and developer Another Angle Games are taking us to an alternate timeline of 19th-century Japan in the upcoming title, Shadow of the Road. Blending cRPG and turn-based strategy combat, players can approach samurai battles with a tactical pace and immerse themselves in a world where their choices shape the path ahead by forging bonds, severing friendships, and affecting family relationships. In the latest Winter Game Expo trailer, Shadow of the Road’s detailed environments, dialogue options, and combat are on full display with previously unseen gameplay. Building your team is a main feature of this turn-based RPG, as Shadow of the Road gives you unique characters with a variety of backgrounds and skills. You’ll put together your group based on your preferred combat style, your personality, or a combination of both. With a civil war in full swing between Shōgun Tokugawa’s traditionalist forces and Emperor Mutsuhito’s steampunk creations, you’ll find yourself embroiled in an intense fight that will shape the fate of the Empire.
