Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - Next Update to (Finally) Reduce File Size
Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's file size has ballooned to such an extent that it dominates all but the largest hard drives. It's almost absurd how demanding the one game is in terms of sheer gigabytes. Thankfully, players (at least, PC players) will soon be granted some small relief from the ever-growing giant of a first-person shooter. With the next update (1.28), planned for release on the 13th October, PC players will be given the option to selectively install game modes, effectively choosing the strength of the stranglehold Infinity Ward's game has on their precious storage spaces.
The news comes from the Twitter account of Paul Haile, Production Manager on Modern Warfare at Infinity Ward. In his tweet (found below), he gives no additional information about the specifics of the install options or anything else found within the update.
tomorrows update will have mode specific uninstall options for PC MW owners.

With the game easily surpassing 200gb on all platforms, an option like this has been necessary for quite some time. There's currently no word on whether console players will enjoy similar features in time. For now, we can at least take comfort in the fact that PC players, if nobody else, will finally have some shears to trim the overgrown fur off the mammoth of Modern Warfare.
