Bungie Announces Split From Activision

Bungie Announces Split From Activision

In news that no one saw coming Bungie and Activision have revealed that they are ending their partnership and heading their separate ways.

Many may remember that when the two first got together, before Destiny released, they agreement was a ten-year long plan. Now the relationship has come to an end, for whatever reason, and the two are calling it there. The interesting and by far best part of this news is that Bungie will gain full ownership and publishing rights of the Destiny IP.

With Activision, we created something special. To date, Destiny has delivered a combination of over 50 million games and expansions to players all around the world. More importantly, we’ve also witnessed a remarkable community – tens of millions of Guardians strong – rise up and embrace Destiny, to play together, to make and share memories, and even to do truly great things that reach far beyond the game we share, to deliver a positive impact on people’s everyday lives.

Moving forward Bungie are sticking to their content plan as laid out for the Annual Pass. Beyond this however the company will now have more freedom to take Destiny in the direction they want without worrying about pleasing shareholders.

Destiny 2 is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

In before Destiny 3 has the exact same issues as Destiny and Destiny 2, and people can no longer blame Activision for it.
