Broken Sword Franchise Enters Guinness World Records
Hot on the heels of the news that they will be bringing all of their titles out in a special boxset, Revolution Games have another reason to celebrate.
The Guinness World Records organisation have revealed that the Broken Sword franchise now has the title of “Longest running graphic adventure protagonist”!
We are incredibly honoured to receive this award on behalf of George [Stobbart] and Nico [Collard]. They are friends who have grown up with us through thick and thin: they are embedded in the Revolution history. And we are celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Revolution this year and so the award could not be better timed!
- Charles Cecil, Founder & CEO of Revolution
The first Broken Sword was released in 1991, and the latest adventure was September 2015, meaning they beat out Guybrush Threepwood of the Monkey Island franchise (which began a year earlier) by five years.
The achievement will be published in the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition 2017.

Err, that's great but what about Dizzy? 28 years between "Dizzy: The Ultimate Cartoon Adventure" and "Wonderland Dizzy"

I'm sure that will get "Longest running platformer character"
